The Smackdown

Ok, so maybe not a problem exactly. Smackdown is still getting 2.1 to 2.5 ratings, but I feel it’s a waste of potential.

Could Smackdown, with the right roster be a sort of middle ground between NXT and Raw? Might we see Vince give Hunter the book for Smackdown at some point soon and say "All right son. Let’s see what you can do with an actual television program."

I know Takeover is in NYC and it’s the day before SummerSlam, but Hunter for all intents and purposes just sold 13,000 seats for an internet only indy/development wrestling federation. It’s an impressive feat that TNA or even ROH would KILL to be able to do. Would Vince ever give up the reigns to the second show?

(That Hunter would be too busy to be on Raw all the time is a nice touch.)

Smackdown is the most useless show on TV, doubly hurtful in that no one cares about it and it serves to further burn out the writers. I think putting Hunter in charge and letting him do this own thing with NXT guys is a great idea, and treating it like a rivalry would be awesome for the promotion. Until Vince gets pissed and decides to cancel the show out of spite. ​
