Furnas and Lafon in WWF

What exactly caused Furnas and Lafon WWF run to turn into the flop it was so quickly?

When they debuted at Survivor Series 96 they seemed poised to be the face of the tag division going forward, but within a few months were not over at all with the fans and already being phased down the card.

They tried a brief heel turn in the spring of 97 but were quickly dumped off to ECW before returning to the Hart Foundation group for Survivor Series 97 and than disappearing again.

​Far as I remember, they were brought in pretty much solely on the recommendation of Jim Ross and Cornette and Vince had no real interest in them. Plus it didn’t help that they had the charisma of a wet sock most of the time. Sometimes what works in Japan just doesn’t translate. ​
