In the fall of 96, The New Rockers started changing there gimmick a bit. Leif completely changed from the dork to a mentally unstable loose cannon while Marty still was completely over the top by October.
After Survivor Series on Raw Leif teamed with Bob Holly against Furnas and Lafon with no mention of Marty at all and Leif continuing to settle into unstable lunatic.

But then after the IYH It’s Time ppv The Rockers were together like nothing happened fighting the the new AAA team that debuted though wrestled a bland match and afterwards Marty and Leuf argued mid ring.

Was the plan to split them up and turn Marty babyface?

The angle was scrapped as Marty abruptly left right after.

​I’m pretty sure it was drug-related, but I don’t even specifically recall the second run of the New Rockers after Marty left the first time. ​
