Intense Angles
By Scott Keith on August 12, 2015
Hi Scott, hope you are well.
I was recently watching Tuesday in Texas, and was reminded of how incredible the Roberts-Savage-Elizabeth angle was. Definitely one of the most riviting and intense angles I remember seeing (Paul Heyman must have been taking notes).
Made me wonder what you would consider to be some of the most intense angles you’ve ever seen in wrestling. They certainly make things more fun.
Take care.
Well, we are certainly approaching one of the most intense ever in the 1996 RAW reviews, although that one didn’t end up particularly well for anyone except maybe Steve Austin.
For me personally, the one that resonates most is the Piper-Adonis feud, specifically the Flower Shop getting single-handedly trashed by a baseball bat wielding Piper. It was really amazing to see longtime heel Piper pushed to the Popeye point as a babyface, where he’s had all he can stands and can’t stands no more
, and just delivers the cathartic destruction that everyone at home wanted to see. It really is one of the greatest payoffs ever done, especially considering that his best friend and bodyguard turned on him to set it up as well.
