Stop-Gaps Feuds

Just looked at the Mind Games Review and it got me thinking about the whole Cena-Owens, Cena-Rusev, situations (And any other Cena-Wrestler X situation that there’s been). Basically, you had a similar problem with Undertaker & Mankind, where you had an established star that you desperately needed but you also knew you needed to use to give the rub to another wrestler. So they put Mick over UT, probably knowing he was going give the win back down the line and, so that the whole thing wasn’t an exercise in futility, they put Goldust in a stop-gap feud to make it look like a lot of time has passed between Lose-Win phases. You basically had the same Cena vs Et al feud but with 1/2 a year b/w lose-winback.

Back to Cena, established WWE Universe physics states that CenaWinsLOL because stockholders and shirt sales etc… But why does it have to be against the guy he just lost to? Why, after his lose to Owen, didn’t he feud with some expendable. Hell, irony of ironies, Stardust is RIGHT THERE. You have this huge open US Title Challenge where the point is anyone can take a shot at anytime. Stardust comes out the Raw after the loss,cackles "I see you are weak, I challenge you!" They do at least 1 month of PPVs. Cena gets his mojo back, challenges Owens, Horns plays. Yay, Cena still went over, he didn’t look weak for longer than a couple weeks and Owens gets to look dominant at least a month longer. Wouldn’t that have appeased the stockholders or whomever is so worried about Cena not being strong for every second? DID IT HAVE TO BE OWENS?
