Brooklyn in August
By Scott Keith on August 2, 2015
Hi Scott,
So I think Brooklyn might be hosting the greatest pro wrestling weekend I can remember.
We all know Summerslam is turning into a 4-hour epic this year, and will have a loaded card, but the day before that, we not only have NXT: Takeover in Brooklyn, but there’s also a major ROH Show at a baseball stadium featuring a ton of NJPW top talent: Nakamura, Okada, and the Time Splitters (http://rohwrestling.com/live/events/2015/aug/23/082215-field-honor-15-brooklyn-ny)
My questions are:
1) Is this the biggest live wrestling weekend a city has ever seen?
2) If not, is this at least bigger than any weekend Manhattan has ever had? Would something like Wrestlemania X by itself make it bigger?
3) If you, like me, live nearby and could attend any one of the shows, which would it be?
4) If you could attend both Sumerslam and one of the other two (since they’re at the same time), which would you choose)?
Fwiw, I got tickets to ROH/NJPW just before they announced the NXT Show and am sticking with it, not to avoid double dipping on buying tickets, but because I love the ROH live product, I want to see the NJPW guys (never seen Okada live), and I hate the venue (Terminal 5) they normally do shows at — terrible for live attendance, and the Brooklyn Stadium show last year was pretty incredible to attend live.
Thanks,Jimmy
Personally I’d vote for going to the NXT show just because I’d love to see Jushin Liger live for once in my life. Plus I’d really like to see the NXT product in a live setting. Summerslam as a four-hour show is really overkill, especially during a time when everyone is really burned out on the WWE TV shows in general, although hopefully it means 40 minutes for Cena v. Rollins.
