Full Sail Crowds
By Scott Keith on July 25, 2015
Hey Scott,
For the longest time the crowd at Full Sail for NXT were great, by just enjoying the show, cheering the faces, booing the heels, you know just being fans. In the last year though the fans there have gone from having fun to trying to make themselves the stars of the show. Apparently the most recent taping had to be heavily edited due to the crowd booing any mention of Takeover: Brooklyn, and it got to the point where they were chanting "We deserve it". And I thought Impact Zone crowds from a few years ago couldn’t be topped in terms of douchebaggery. With NXT touring more and more do you think by this time next year Full Sail will be fazed out and they’ll just be taping on the road so they wont have to deal with the entitled crowd down there?
Tom
They tape at Full Sail for developmental reasons because they want to train people to actually make the shows in addition to training indy stars which camera to look at, not really anything to do with the crowd. The crowd becoming increasingly entitled and douchy is more of a side-effect. And yeah, look at how drastically different the reactions to Baron Corbin were when they went on the road, at which point the Full Sail crowd picked up on it and completely turned on him. I think the Full Sail environment is more important from the technical end as far as training goes, and they’ll just kind of put up with the crowds and edit them as needed rather than spending millions doing a road tour for TV tapings. They hopefully learned from TNA, in other words.
