According to PWInsider, TNA has released Hernandez, who recently returned to the company just a few weeks ago after leaving Lucha Underground, due to Hernandez actually still being under contract to Lucha Underground, and LU threatening legal action over the use of him on TNA programming.
The problem seems to have occurred due to Hernandez erroneously telling TNA he was no longer under contract with LU, and TNA taking him at his word.
Hernandez was booked to be a member of TNA’s Beat Down Crew upon his return to the promotion, and was used in angles in at least a month’s worth of TNA Impact tapings. When TNA found out about this issue with Lucha Underground, they apparently approached LU representatives to work out a financial deal to use the footage of Hernandez they had already shot, but their offer was rejected.
As a result of the legal threat from LU, PWInsider reports all Beat Down Crew storylines have been pulled from previously taped shows and will be replaced with stock footage and matches.
I would say this is a shocking level of ineptitude by TNA, but…you know…#LOLTNA
