New Day
By Scott Keith on July 10, 2015
Hey Scott, wondered if you had any insight into what’s happened with the New Day push? They were fast becoming one of the segments I’d look forward to and the fans were really giving them heat. The good sort of heat too.
They could have kept them tag champs until the fans were clamouring for them to lose the belts, but instead they cut their knees out from underneath them and lose to the Prime Time Players on a b show? All the good work they had done getting them looking strong until that point gone.
Was it simply a case of they hoped some of the heat would transfer onto the PTP? Out of all the nonsensical 50/50 booking this has annoyed me most because they had put the time in and were getting their rewards with the crowd reactions. They were reaching the point in my eyes where they could be put in a program for a month with a top level talent and not look out of place.
Now they’re just some guys. Which is kinda how the WWE like it these days I guess?
Thanks
The Primetime Players switch was just because of Titus winning that award, so they could get some pub by having the team of Super Dad and Openly Gay Man as champions. I still presume that New Day will get them back next week at Battleground if that’s a match they’re doing. But regardless, it’s definitely taken a lot of the steam off New Day, and as noted that’s the way they want it these days.
