QOTD 133: The Soundtrack of all Soundtracks!
By Scott Keith on April 11, 2014
Today’s QOTD comes from Elmo Machete!
what are some of your favorite movie soundtracks? Of course, there are some rules to this question:
– NO ORCHESTRAL SCORES. So that eliminates your John Williams’s and Danny Elfmans (Elfmen?)
– NO MUSICALS. Yeah, I love the Grease soundtrack too, but that’s not what this question is about.
– NO RERECORDINGS OF PRE-EXISTING SONGS. As much as I’d like to count the Blues Brothers… nope.
I guess what I should’ve said is “favorite movie soundtrack(s) that consist of existing songs.” Your Pulp Fictions and Reservoir Dogs, your Snatches and Ferris Buellers. The films that take other people’s music & weave it so seamlessly into the story that the music almost becomes a character itself.
WHAT SAY YOU (Otters)?!?
I don’t know, but if I have to hear any more music from that “Frozen” movie I’m going to hang myself.
Seriously though this question begins and ends for me with “500 Days of Summer”. Which has a pretty good indie soundtrack, but the sequence below is probably the most accurate representation of post-coital joy I’ve seen in film.
