WWE Countdown

Given that it's now April Fool's Day, I thought it would be worth kicking it off with the "Biggest Blunders" episode of WWE Countdown.

Sidenote: If you have access to a Google Adsense dashboard, you will be very amused and if you're like me pretty confused until you remember what day it is. Well played, Google.

Anyway, the Blunders show was a nice little "laughing at ourselves" deal, the type of which they don't do enough of outside of "Are You Serious" on Youtube. And yeah, it was most of the same stuff they cover there (Sid's interviews, Scott Steiner is a raving lunatic, Shockmaster, Papa Shango's voodoo curse, Mike Adamle, etc.) but it was nice to get the talking head perspectives from the various people involved. I was left a little bemused by the Warrior stuff, because they trash him HARDCORE and it's obviously interviews that were in the can before we all remembered that Warrior is a HALL OF FAMER who we're supposed to love and respect again. Daniel Bryan's deadpan "Voodoo apparently only works on the very stupid" steals the whole show, however.

Also watched the "Biggest Backstabs" episode, which was not so great. And the Barber Shop breakup at #1? PUH-LEASE. Hulk Hogan changed the course of the business with the nWo turn. Also, Countdown remains the laziest-produced show they have, with recycled talking heads and stuff that's been on YouTube a bazillion times. Not to mention the annoying trend where they SHOW ALL THE CLIPS in the intro, thus giving away the entire list before the show even starts. Then they take a "break" halfway into the show to recap the entire thing again, on an on-demand network no less.

It's an OK time-wasting show, but it really needs to be cut down to 30 minutes in the worst way.
