QOTD – August 6th, 2013
By Scott Keith on August 6, 2013
Greetings.
Today’s question comes from a man who’s rather presumptuous in that he believes he’s OUR favorite asshole. How does he know this? Perhaps there are other favored assholes. But in the end, he is our favorite.
caliber mang, its his, her, their, of course my, and YOUR_favourite_asshole here with a qotd inspired by the ‘aged well’ qotd
someone
mentioned raiders of the lost ark bein’ awesome, and that made me think
of the raiders atari game bein’ awesome. which made me think of atari
in general bein’ awesome. and arcades in the 80’s bein’ awesomeso, qotd: what are some peeps’ fav 80’s video games, console
or otherwise? believe it or not, mama and papa asshole wouldnt let me
have a nintendo since i already an atari 2600 (and when it broke, they
upgraded me to the 7800 so i could play all the old games), which is why
my qotd is rooted in atari. but i know lots of BoD’ers will wanna throw
nes games in there, along with intellivision and colecovision, hell
even tomy tutor (tomor, as my one friend called it)and to get the ball rolling, i loved me some 720 in the arcade. SKATE OR DIE!!!
I’m gonna answer the question, but go up a decade. I didn’t get an NES until 1989, and didn’t get really into video games until the SNES came along. I was obsessed with Mortal Kombat. Of course, I was jealous of those with the Sega because they got the blood and I had “sweat”. But then Mortal Kombat II came along, and it was an absolutely flawless port. The Street Fighter II’s were great as well. My favorite was, no joke, Super Street Fighter II Turbo Championship Edition. I also really dug Mario RPG, that was a blast and very underrated. Castlevania 4 was incredible, and still holds up today.
I remember at a local department store, Fred Meyer, they use to have a demo SNES out for kids to play when it first came out. When they put Street Fighter II in there, no joke, you’d have 20-30 teenagers all gathered around it. At the arcades they’d have multiple machines of the hit games, and they’d be attached to these giant big-screen TVs so people way in the back could watch. It was crazy how over the arcade & fighting games were back then.
How say you?
