Howdy Blog of Doomers!
A couple of quick thoughts from me as I’ve watched quite a bit of old programming recently:
— I watched Armaggedon 2000 in preparation for a future rant and the man-on-woman violence was at a super high. It was a little odd, almost uncomfortable to see how much this was part of so many programs.
— The main event for that card was just wild. Watched it three times and still not sure how to rate it.
— Speaking of man on woman violence I was watching the last Austin documentary again. Did anyone have a better swan song from active wrestling than him. He quietly set up a final Wrestlemania program with his biggest rival and after years of being put over by said rival he returned the favor and walked away without a whole bunch of hoopla.
— Watching the history of the WWE/F World Heavyweight Championship….I wish they would have shown more of the Greg Valentine-Bob Backlund cage match but holy shit that piledriver to end it was BEAUTIFUL. It was like 1.5 on the Orndorff scale.
— Also I have a new appreciation for early 1980s heel Sgt. Slaughter. He was quite a bump machine for a big guy and took his ass kickings like a man.
Anyway that’s all, enjoy the show, come out swinging and keep it clean!
