Anderson vs. Michael Elgin: Anderson gets a machine gun sound effect over
the PA when the ring announcer says his name, which is pretty goofy. Prince
Nana of all people is on commentary, and like all guest commentators not named “Corino”
he sucks. Oddly enough he speaks with a Latin-sounding accent. Basic stuff that
goes nowhere to start, Anderson misses a bicycle kick and Elgin hits a backdrop
suplex for a 2 count. He goes right into the delayed vertical suplex, and that
kills a minute or so. Elgin wins a fight over a suplex with a knee to the gut,
but Anderson gets free of a running powerslam attempt. He hits a dropkick to
Elgin’s knee and starts working the leg. They head outside and Anderson keeps
working the leg. Back in Anderson throws uppercuts in the corner and he goes
back to the knee, and we head to commercial.

runs right into a leg lariat for 2. Back to the leg, Anderson taunts Elgin so
Elgin throws forearms, Anderson pretty much no-sells all of it and fires back
with some stiff uppercuts. A scoop slam and a running senton gets 2. He tries
for a DVD, Elgin gets loose and Anderson crotches himself on the second rope on
a blind charge. Elgin hits the German into the corner and we get the double-KO spot.
Elgin is up first but he’s having trouble walking, a forearm battle breaks out,
Elgin wins it and hits a belly-to-belly. A couple corner clotheslines are
followed by the Black Hole Slam for 2. Deadlift German for 2 and Anderson bails
to the apron, which is the last place you want to go in a match with Elgin, but
Anderson gets free from the apron-to-ring superplex. He hits a jumping enziguri
and goes to the top rope, a neckbreaker from the top gets 2. He tries for a
powerbomb, Elgin drops him on his head and goes up top, the corkscrew senton
hits nothing but Anderson’s knee. It still gets 2, Anderson no-sells the
bucklebomb but Elgin kicks him right down. He tries for the spinning powerbomb
but Anderson reverses it into the Emerald Fusion (or Frozen or whatever the
hell it’s called) for 2. Elgin gets free of another DVD attempt and throws
knees, a small package gets 2. Anderson hits an Ace Crusher to finish at 15:05
shown. I really question Anderson going over here when he’s just going back
to Japan (and with Elgin now the #1 contender), but whatever… ***,
started off slow but got good after the commercials. They shake hands after the
match and the crowd chants “Please come back” at Anderson.

Scott runs in and attacks MsChif to draw the DQ at 1:02 and a terrible brawl
breaks out before the stooges come out to break it up. This is revenge for
MsChif hitting Veda with the green mist at the last TV taping, though (as one
of the commenters pointed out in my review of that show) Veda was wearing
glasses and wouldn’t have got any of it in her eyes. The intent was still
there, I guess… Match itself was too short to rate but was pretty crappy.

Bobby Fish) vs. Davey Richards (w/ Eddie Edwards): THIS is the main event?
Are you kidding me? Richards kicks O’Reilly from the apron before we
even see the ring intros and we’re on. Fish joins Kelly on commentary as
Richards plays barricade pinball, he hits another kick from the apron and
chases O’Reilly around ringside. Back in Richards starts working the arm. They
fight over a suplex and O’Reilly throws an absolutely vicious knee to the face,
he hits a belly-to-back but Richards grabs the bottom rope. Snap suplex for 2
and O’Reilly hooks some sort of abdominal stretch variation that ends with a
rollup for 2. Richards is back up with palm strikes, O’Reilly uses knees and a
legsweep to send him back down. Richards hits a shoulderbreaker (called a
tombstone by the commentators) and O’Reilly sells the wrong arm. Richards tries
a splash from the top and lands in a triangle choke but he makes the ropes. They
slug it out, O’Reilly ends up on the floor again and Richards hits the dive
through the ropes, but fucks up his knee in the process. He still hits a
missile dropkick, and throws about 30 kicks in the corner while Fish bitches
about the ref (“Yeah, just stand behind him and count, he can’t even see you!”).

but the knee can’t support the weight. O’Reilly hits a reverse fisherman’s

gets the cross armbreaker but O’Reilly quickly reverses it into an anklelock,
Richards reverses that into a small package. They throw more kicks, O’Reilly
hits a tornado DDT but gets caught in the cross armbreaker again, he makes the
ropes. Richards gets caught going upstairs, but still manages to hit a sunset
flip powerbomb and a running kick to the face. He hits the double stomp from
the top, but O’Reilly gets the anklelock again, then the Sharpshooter. Richards
makes the ropes and both guys head out to the apron, they throw kicks before
Richards drops O’Reilly shoulder first on the edge of the ring. He tries
another dive through the ropes, but the knee gives out and O’Reilly hits a
brainbuster from the apron to the floor. OK, that was pretty crazy. Back in it
gets 2, he puts Richards on the top rope and tries to suplex him through a
table, but ends up laying on the table and Richards double-stomps him through
it. Fish thinks he should be DQ’d (and he kind of has a point), but we keep
going. O’Reilly just barely beats the count back in and spits in Richards’
face, Davey responds with some kicks to the face for 2. He hooks the cross
armbreaker again and this time O’Reilly taps at 16:25 aired. **3/4, had the
usual selling issues you’d expect from these two, but it was still pretty fun. This
was basically the only match from this entire taping that had decent heat.
