Rock’s “Injuries”
By Scott Keith on April 12, 2013
Hi Scott,
Over the past week, there's been a lot of speculation that Rock's injuries were completely fabricated and were used to get him out of a potentially embarrassing and hostile reaction the night after WM. And why I realize that Rock is in exceptional shape, the alleged severity of his "injuries" completely contradicts both his behaviors (he tore all those abdominal muscles completely off the bone, and he's not doubled over in pain? He's able to stand up straight? He's able to breathe without any noticeable difficulty?) and his words (he's not going to have surgery for muscles that allegedly were COMPLETELY TORN OFF THE BONE? What, they'll just magically reset themselves correctly and heal flawlessly?). And then apparently he's back to training a few days later after suffering multiple severe injuries? And by the way, didn't Goldberg suffer a similar injury – but to a lesser extent – in football which ended his football aspirations?

Add on to this that Rock took off with no one knowing, and that WWE barely acknowledged him on RAW except to mention "oh yeah, he's hurt," and it definitely makes for a fishy situation. So now that a few days have passed, what do you make of it all?
Rock is making a super-expensive blockbuster in a few weeks, and you can't just bullshit insurance companies by claiming that you have a torn ab muscle one week and then going to shoot the movie the next. The pay that Rock was getting from WWE is peanuts next to the money he makes from his day job. It's gotta be a legit injury.
