CM Punk/Undertaker
By Scott Keith on April 1, 2013
Good evening Scott,
Punk clearly isn't beating Undertaker this year, and given the shitty buildup and injury status of both he probably shouldn't. Does it make any storyline sense for Vince to think another year out and have Punk lose this year, take some time off to heal nagging injuries, and maybe come back late summer rejuvenated and "hungry for respect" or something like that a la Bret Hart in 1996. Punk comes back and builds toward a rematch with at WM 30 where he ends the streak and UT retires.
They have shown willingness to book long-term with Rock/Cena, so they could plan long-term for Undertaker's last match if they really wanted. I don't know how UT and Punk get along, but I can see UT viewing Punk as worthy of breaking the streak. UT gets a solid year-long respect angle to go out on, the could do the respect hug at the end, Punk gets made into a legend. Everyone goes home happy.
I know this is dangerously close to fantasy booking, but I have a man-crush on CM Punk and I want to see him involved in something cool instead of this garbage.
I'm pretty darn sure next year is Cena-Undertaker, so I wouldn't be holding your breath for Punk.
