Bret v. HHH

With all the HHH v Bret talk lately, do you think part of the reason Bret might be holding a grudge is because HHH was the one who gave the go on the screw job? According to the accounts of what happened, Vince was discussing with HHH and Shawn about Bret possibly walking out with the belt because he didn’t want to lose in Montreal, and it was HHH who said “f him,” which ended up with the formation of the plan which screwed Bret, followed by HHH lying to Bret’s wife when he “swore to god” that he had nothing to do with it? As far as I know, all that were involved in the screw job have apologized, Vince meeting Bret in the park, Shawn on Raw, not sure about Earl as to when. But HHH as far as I know has never apologized and seems to have gotten almost no backlash from fans for his role when he had as big a part as Shawn or Earl, but nobody ever chants “you screwed bret” at HHH like they did at Vince, Earl or Shawn.

I don’t think Bret is holding a grudge.  HHH seems like the kind of guy who would have owned up to his role in the name of winning Bret back previously, especially in the position he’s been in for years now.  Plus it’s not like HHH made a huge secret out of his involvement once the truth came out about Shawn.  And if HHH hasn’t gotten backlash, that just shows once again how brilliant of a mind for the business he has.
